I got a G5 Mac this week.
Right now I'm installing gentoo on it.
Looks like we might have a ppc64 version of stoned soon :)
|
|
The last weeks we have been busy working on a new release.
The major bugs are already fixed.
There are some minor ones which are still playing hide'n'seek.
Performance got much better again.
We aim to have a new release before the end of march.
Hold your breath ;)

Looks like the last development release was seriously broken.
We are looking into the problem right now.
We think we know what it is and we know how to fix it,
but we want to verify the behaviour before we go on and hack it.
|
|
We started using doxygen to generate source documentation.
Have a look at it here.
|
|
Changes:
- Big architecture rework. (Going single process)
- Fixed/reenabled sound.
- Various bugfixes.
This version has a totally changed architecture,
so please test it and let us know your results.

I just did the final fixes for 1.1.6
All that's left to do is a test game.
Final should be out tomorrow.

I finally found what made stoned die with certain ATI drivers.
To fix it I had to rewrite the whole "main-loop".
Well, there was no main-loop before.
There was just a bunch of processes doing their work.
Now it's only one process.
Well, one plus sound.
Should see a new release soon ... once I cleaned up the mess I made during the rearchitecting.

PennyArcarde just started a thing calle childsplay.
Head over to the ChildsPlay site and do something good.

|
Changes:
- menu fixes
- removed dependency on libpng
- fixed an old music bug
- removed a lot dead code
- continued cleanups
We still aim to open up the sources by the end of the year,
but there is a lot of work left to be done...
|
|
I totally broke everything yesterday in an attempt to clean up the code.
It's still working, but I don't know how ?-)
If you'd like to help us out a little and/or show how much you like being stoned ... erm playing stoned, check out the donations page:

Udo just returned from his vacation and is busy catching up.
Anti meanwhile worked on some internal cleanups - in preperation of opening up the source.
Stay tuned....
|
|
Udo is on vacation, so there isn't a lot going on.
Anti is doing some cleanups, concentrating on the build process.
Don't expect a new release within the next four weeks.
Unless you find a critical bug and let us know!
Send bugreports, feature-requests and general feedback to:

We just released 1.1.4 for linux and windows.
Changes:
- Internal cleanups on our way to open up the source.
- Intro moved before the menu.
- Settings can be saved at exit (try --saveconfig) and will be loaded at startup.
Give it some testing and send some feedback!
stoned(at)webhome(dot)de is active again!

We just released 1.1.3 for linux and windows.
Download it and have fun.
This is a development release, but we did quite some testing,
so if you find an error, please let us know.
Changes:
- A lot of internal bugfixes.
- Major performance enhancements.
- Eyecandy. (Landscape and cleanups.)
- Preliminary startup menu.
... and lots more I simply can't remember right now.
|
|
Just added a new screenshot from the upcoming "eyecandy" release.
|
|
We added lots of features and Udo did some real performance tweaking.
It's almost time to release it.
Stay tuned.
|
|
Looks like we finally decided on a license.
It'll be BSD style.
Take a here.
ps:
This is no final decision yet, but the chances are good.

I just moved the repository to the new server.
Looks like everything worked.
If you find any errors, let us know.

I just finished the news posting system.
So you should see more frequent updates in this spot from now on.

2003-04-01:
The webhost (where we host the "big" files) changed the billing system and somehow the information was caught by our spam filters.
Resulting in our account being suspended and thus all images and files were unavailable.
The problem is fixed.
We also moved our development system and I didn't find the time to update all the scripts yet.
So there are no nightly builds and the "Last CVS commit" (look up) isn't updated.
Last CVS commit (now=2003-04-01) is:

Also it seems development has stalled we are still considering this project active.
Udo has been working on a new client server architecture, which will allow easier multi-player gaming, faster development and multiple games per server.
I (=Anti) have been looking into physic, especially rigid body dynamics.
The engine we are using now "seems" to be working, but in realtiy it's just a good looking fake.
(Look what happens when a fast spinning stone hits a standing one, is the spin transfered ?)
If you find any bugs, just let us know and we'll fix them as fast as possible.
Happy curling.

We just released Version 1.1.2 (linux+windows).
This contains a lot of internal changes
and some hooks for upcomming features.
Please try this and let us know if it is working.

2003-01-22:
We consider 1.0.x stable and done.
If we don't find any grave bugs, we will stop work on 1.0.x.
We made some very nice enhancements to 1.1.x, while keeping very stable.
Do us - and yourself - a favour and check the 1.1.x branch first.

V1.0.3 has been ready to release for a while now,
but I (=anti) was busy with other things.
V1.0.4 is V1.0.3 packaged with a script,
so there are no externally visible changes.
If you still run V1.0.2 or lower upgrading is recommended.
